Some people enjoy dating, meeting new potential love interests, playing the field. For others, the only thing worse than dating is, well, not dating. The reality-TV purveyors at Oxygen Media take aim at both types, and their new survey of the singles scene has a little something for everyone. The poll, conducted online by Research Now, is a promotional tie-in for modern-matchmaker show Find Me My Man, but that doesn't make its findings any less interesting.
The survey suggests a dating scene where people are relying on the internet and alcohol to make a match, and are much more open to different races and religions than personal hygiene shortcomings. If you are currently dating, this is, according to Oxygen, your world. If you are faithfully engaged in a committed relationship, this is what you are missing out on. Here, the numbers:
Percentage of single respondents who use online dating services
Percentage of respondents who turn to the internet rather than friends for dating advice
Percentage of black and Latino respondents who rely on TV shows for dating advice
Percentage of respondents who have "friended" a first date on Facebook
Percentage of men who said they have personal experience with "catfishing"
Percentage of men who admitted to lying on an online dating profile (posting an outdated photo, or lying about looking for a serious relationship, for example)
